elevation of glucose levels in the blood is only a symptom of a health imbal- ance which is labeled as diabetes. It is not the disease itself, but an indicator that something is wrong. Like the light in your car which reads “check engine” it means “pay attention” as something is wrong––most likely your general state of health.

When checking under the hood, first consider what you are eating on a daily basis. If you are like many Ameri- cans, your diet is largely made up of refined foods, starting with a breakfast cereal that contains few nutrients. Refining, processing and the use of pro- cessed oils have removed most of the nutritional value from our food supply. So while refined foods are convenient, they lack the nutrients necessary to sup- port health. Traditional diets containing no processed foods provide four times the mineral content and ten times the fat soluble vitamins of the typical Amer- ican diet. important in reversing Type 2 Diabe- tes. Creating fun ways to stay active is essential as we no longer run about and tumble as we did as kids. Walking the dog, taking a dance or yoga class, lifting weights or playing sports with others are great ways to keep moving. Activity helps us utilize glucose and prevents its storage as fat. Increased muscle mass utilizes glucose more ef- ficiently and is especially important for diabetics.

In our class “Reversing Type 2 Diabetes with Natural Therapies,” we address food choices and exercise as two components of a plan to restore health. Using group support throughout

the twelve weekly meetings, partici- pants journal and discuss the issues that prevent them from making healthy choices. The addition of two or three nutritional supplements helps speed the correction of nutrient deficiencies. By learning new recipes, finding fun ways to move and working together with the support group, Type 2 Diabetes can be reversed and managed with natural therapies. Join us and see the difference it makes in your life!
