DUST OFF YOUR GOLF CLUBS, SPRING IS IN THE AIR
BY RON MANZ T
he scent of spring blossoms, the sight of lush green grass and the sounds of seven irons whacking balls at the driving range all signal the start of another golf season. Here in the Okanagan Valley, it also marks the introduction of a destination golf marketing program through Tourism Kelowna presented as Golf Kelowna.
A total of sixteen Central Okanagan golf courses have all partnered with Tourism Kelowna to market themselves and our area on a national and international scale as one entity using a central reservations component through
www.golfkelowna.com.
“Tourism Kelowna and the courses all got together last September and pooled their resources and marketing dollars to form Golf Kelowna,” stated Tom Ignatzi, Consumer Programs Manager for Tourism Kelowna. “We conducted a study that found the number one reason people travel to the Okanagan is to golf, followed by skiing and then wine tours. We have top quality courses offering a variety of layouts that will cater to every level of playing ability, all within an hour of each other. On top of that, we offer first class accommodation, restaurants, beaches, lake activities and wine tours. We offer the total package to satisfy the entertainment needs of golfers and non-golfers alike.”
