Council on Aging receives $100,000 grant
Te Council on Aging of Bun-
combe County, Inc., recently re- ceived a $100,000 grant from the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC) Foundation. Te Council on Aging is a past BCB- SNC Foundation grantee that has shown significant program results. It will use this new investment to con- tinue its work of assisting and linking senior adults and their families with community resources to enhance quality of life. “It’s important to keep our elderly
citizens moving so they stay healthier longer,” said Wendy Marsh, execu- tive director of the Council on Aging of Buncombe County. “Te BCB- SNC Foundation’s support allows us to further our impact and continue
providing helpful information and resources for the older citizens in Buncombe County. Without their support, we could not do what we do today.” Trough the grant, the Council on
Aging of Buncombe County, Inc., will increase healthy behaviors for senior citizens by enhancing and rep- licating Project EMMA, an initiative that integrates physical activity and local produce into the Senior Dining Program, both within Buncombe County and in other areas of North Carolina. In celebration of its 10th anniver-

Authorities arrest hit and run suspect

Clark’s vehicle struck another ve- hicle in the rear, causing damage. Police say Clark fled the scene of the accident. Officer Michele Cagle with the
