Saint Eugene has been offering the Catholic members of the North Buncombe community a special place to worship. “Tis parish is a very warm and welcoming com- munity of believers,” Father Ed Sheridan said. Te Parish of St. Eugene in-

cludes approximately 1,500 fami- lies, including over 250 Span- ish-speaking parishioners. “We believe it is very important to have healthy ministries both inside and outside the church,” Sheridan said. “I am thankful that we have such a highly involved lay ministry.” Community outreach includes support and service through AB- CCM, Meals on Wheels, Catho- lic Social Services, area homeless shelters and meeting various local needs. Within the Parish there are ministries specifically designed for men, women, children, marriage enrichment, homebound needs and many others. Another primary ministry of

the Parish of St. Eugene is the daily support of Asheville Catho- lic School. ACS began in 1960 and currently enrolls over 200 students from Pre-K through 8th grade. ACS adjoins the Parish of St. Eugene on Culvern Street in North Asheville.

been lead by Sheridan Ed for the past 18 months. He has served as a Catholic priest in North Caro- lina for 48 years and was called to St. Eugene out of retirement. He served as priest at the Parish of St. Gabriel in Charlotte prior to his move to Asheville. One of Sheridan Ed’s favorite

scripture passages is in Matthew 26 where Jesus surrenders His will to God by saying, “Not my will but Ty will be done.” He explains, “if we seek to accomplish something for God, then whatever it is, it matters. We need more than just our profession of faith; we need our faith to produce a statement of ac- tion for our lives. How do we live as Christians? We should be living kind, compassionate and forgiving lives. Our beliefs are important but they should directly impact

our actions and lead us to respect other people, ourselves and God.” Te Parish of St. Eugene holds

numerous masses throughout each week. A complete listing can be found below. Also, for more infor- mation about the overall ministry of the Parish of St. Eugene, go to steugene.org or call (828) 254- 5193.
