determined that when I got her age I would have my own retreat: a place where I could live and slow down
Do you feel as if your life is on track? Yes I do, even though I have recently just gone back into the fi tness business and launched a new brand called Fit n Fast – a budget club chain which off ers quick workouts and cheap memberships in Australia. I still have Gwin- ganna and a few other businesses, but I feel I balance things fairly well. As I write these answers, I am looking out the window of my fl oating apartment aboard T e World cruise ship as we sail down the coast of Brazil.
How would you describe yourself? Adventurous, driven, somewhat living on the edge. I love a new challenge, a new adventure and working with other people. T ese days it is not about the money but more about the challenge, and in some ways the ‘game’ of suc- cess in whatever you do.
How would your critics describe you? Interesting question! I haven’t really asked too many of them, so I can’t really answer that.
What’s your vision for your company? We certainly have strived to be not only the best in Australia, which I think we already are), but also to be recognised as one of the best in the world at delivering what we think

is the evolving benefi ts of a true health and lifestyle retreat. Whether that comes from programmes, treatments, delivery of food or delivery of experience.
What do you want to achieve over the next 12 months? T e Gwinganna business, despite the tough economic climate, has had tremendous growth over the last three years and is now very profi t- able. We are now just fi ne-tuning the business and I think moving forward with the second- ary revenue streams of spa, spa products, retail and wellness products will be our focus.
What are your longer term ambitions? At this point I have no real longer term
Gwinganna is located in 500 acres of natural habitat so that guests can really get away from it all at this award-winning retreat
ambitions as far as growing the business but I believe in growth by opportunity and there could certainly be other opportunities. My true long-term goal is to retire at Gwinganna and spend four to fi ve days a week there and two to three days a week being more deca- dent at my apartment at the beach while still maintaining an interest in various business, but working only two to three hours a day and primarily taking care of my own personal health and wellbeing. ●
