FRIENDS OF DOROTHY FRIENDRAISER FOR AIDS SERVICES FOUNDATION As the “green awareness” day rolls around
this year, The Friends of Dorothy Guild is committed to bringing the community wonderful events that are fun and excit- ing, while offering a great opportunity for continued support of the guild which benefits the programs of AIDS Services Foun- dation (ASF). At the beginning of each season, the Dorothy’s hold a “FriendRaiser” party to preview the upcoming “fun-raising” season to new members and to gather new Dorothy’s into the guild. Why Dorothy? In The Wizard of Oz, Dorothy clicked her heels three times and made things happen. which is exactly what members of the Friends of Dorothy do for ASF – they make things happen! This will be the third year Lexus, located 3901 MacArthur Boulevard in Newport Beach, will host the “Friend- raiser” event, on Thursday, March 17. Now is the time to get your pledges in for 2011 Green, Red & Pink Shoe Awards. Just e-mail Barbara at
bvontv@earthlink.net and let her know what your gift will be! For more information about the event, visit

IMPERIAL COURT OC CANDIDATE NIGHT: BURLESQUE FUN AND FANTASY It’s time to choose the “Real Monarchs of Orange County,” as the Imperial
Court Orange County prepares for the annual coronation. In existence since 1974, The Imperial Court OC is the oldest LGTB organization in Orange County. From the MCC Church in Whittier to Metro Q in Huntington Beach, with a stop or two at the Frat House Garden Grove, the Court’s most important contribution to the OC community is its commitment to raising money for charitable organizations and helping those in the community who are in need of assistance. Every year the group chooses one or two new people to head the fundraising for Orange County and then bestows upon them camp titles of Empress and Emperor. They choose their Court giving them camp titles from Lord/Lady up to Prince/Princess. They also pick the date, the type of event, and the charity it goes to. Everyone has fun! Interested in who is vying to reign next year? Attend the Candidate Night: Burlesque Fun and Fantasy on Saturday, March 26, at the Frat House, located at 8112 Garden Grove Boule- vard in Garden Grove. The doors open at 5 p.m. Food will be served at 5:30 p.m. and the show starts promptly at 6:30 p.m. A $10 donation is suggested. For more information, visit

STAGE 2011 ORIGINAL CAST 2 The 28th Annual Southland Theatre Artists’ Goodwill Event 2011 (STAGE) returns for one night only and features Broadway stars recreating the roles they made famous. Back in 1984, during a time of mass fear and confusion regarding AIDS, a small group of friends in the theatre community came together in an effort to combat the devastating impact of HIV/AIDS on their friends and family. Now the world’s longest running AIDS benefit has become a venue for the community to raise consciousness while express- ing love, concern, sadness, and support. Since its inception, STAGE has raised millions of dollars for HIV/AIDS services and charities throughout Southern California. STAGE returns for one night only to The Harriett and Charles Luckman Fine Arts Complex on the campus of Cal State LA, 5151 State University Drive in Los Angeles, on Saturday, April 2, at 7:30 p.m. Individual tickets to the gala event are $75 to $220. CLUB MED BOX Taking HIV medications can be complicated, confusing and, let’s face it, a
bother. Success is determined by how well a client adheres to their medica- tion schedules and doses. But, with help, it doesn’t have to be such a chore. Club Med Box is Orange County’s Treatment Adherence Program and it’s a free program that offers information about current treatment regimens, discussion with others about what it takes to be successful and addresses adherence barriers and successes. Bring all of your meds, including non-HIV meds, over the counter meds & even supplements and get a one on one consultation with a pharmacist who will help you fill your pillbox. This is an open group and you can come as often as you like, or as often as you need. Join Club Med Box held at Shanti Orange County, located at 23001 Del Lago Drive, Suite B1 in Laguna Hills, on Monday, March 28 at 6 p.m. To RSVP call 949.452.0888 or e-mail
