Beware: I am just getting into trailering around the country. I have enjoyed T e RV Times, with its tips and articles on

various things. So we joined, and now I have a story to tell about us getting taken in Nevada, in a place called Wells. It had to do with our trailer. I was told by this guy, who had a

garage by the gas station where I was fi lling up, that my springs and shackles were shot. T e bill could be as high as $3,500 to fi x them. It was a weekend and I had no way of verifying that cost. It

would be another 100 miles to the next town. He pointed out to us the trailer spring could brake and the trailer could fl ip on the highway in the desert. So we agreed and he did the work. Anyway he brought the price down to $3,000 by the time I

drove out of this place. I paid him with my Master Card. When I was fi nally able to get online, I found out that the cost of the parts was not anywhere near as much as this fellow charged. I phoned this guy named Joe and said, “You ripped me off !”

Aſt er being on the phone for a while he took a $1,000 off my Master Card bill, so now I paid $2,000. Maybe the parts were worth $300 and the labour maybe $300, but the bad part is the parts were not worn like he said they were! I kept the parts he took out and three diff erent companies have looked at them and said they didn’t have to be changed. For those who want more details, my email address is beloiw. Invitation from Hope Visitor Centre: Sheila I just received our supply of the Jan/Feb 2011 edition

of T e RV Times magazine and have enjoyed reading it over my lunch break. (You look great by the way!)

I have to echo the comments of Rhoda Brooks from the Oliver

Visitor Centre (Stop by Oliver’s Visitor Centre, RVT 139 pg. 8) and invite readers to stop by the HOPE Visitor Centre. Every Visitor Centre in the Province of BC operates by the

same Tourism BC standards, in terms of training, operations, publications etc., so we are a “franchise” of sorts where visitors can expect the same levels of professionalism, knowledge and friendliness wherever they might wander in our beautiful province. As long as the location, building and staff are identifi ed by the offi cial BC Visitor centre logo - the bright yellow “i” on the royal blue background - travelers can expect to fi nd travel counselors providing great information and insight into their local area (as well as other destinations in BC). T e Hope Visitor Centre is currently open from Monday

through Saturday from 10AM to 4PM (Closed on Sundays) ... we will extend our hours as the days grow longer and warmer and more people are travelling in the region. During July and August, for example, we are open daily from 8AM to 8PM. T e adjacent Hope Museum is open seasonally daily from 10AM to 4PM from the Victoria Day weekend in May to the Labour Day weekend in September. Hope BC is known as the Chainsaw Carving Capital plus we have

great parks, hiking/biking trails; the Hope Art Gallery showing and selling the work of talented Hope artists; lakes/streams/rivers for fi shing boating and swimming; one of the best kept golfi ng secrets of BC at the Hope Golf and Country Club plus much, much more --- including a wide variety of RV/campgrounds! So I invite all readers of T e RV Times magazine to visit Hope

sometime soon and to utilize the knowledge of all of the Visitor Centres throughout the province of British Columbia. Inge Wilson
