Ashley has maintained a 4.0 GPA


while at Tuskegee University. She is also involved in many different organizations on campus—Civitan Club, NAACP, Louisiana Club, AIChE (American Insti- tute of Chemical Engineers) and HELPS. Currently, she serves as the vice president of Next Step Up. She also volunteers in local schools.

AERON GLOVER Industrial Engineering Major, Class of 2012 The University of Tennessee-Knoxville


Aeron is an active participant of NSBE, the Institute of Industrial Engi- neers, and the Tennessee Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation pro- gram. Recently, Aeron and his business colleague were recognized as first place winners within the UT Undergraduate Business Plan Competition and another business plan competition entitled “Mov- ers & Changers” hosted by MTV-U.


RESEARCH AWARD


JAZMINE MILLER Computer Science Major, Class of 2011 Spelman College


Jazmine is a co-winner of the 2010


AT&T Big Mobile on Campus Chal- lenge. The duo won a $10,000 scholar- ship for development of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Buddy iPhone app for smart phones. In addition, the pair have been the lifeforce of Spelman College robotics.Under their leadership, Spelbots either won or tied in competitions held in Japan, Italy and the U.S.

they are dedicated scholars who shine in the classroom, the lab, and on the field. Tomorrow, they will be the true innovators of STEM. Their discoveries and contributions will make our nation, and our world, safer and stronger.


STUDENT ATHLETES IN STEM


DANIELLE ANDERSON Biochemistry Major, Class of 2011 Florida A&M University


Danielle Anderson is a fourth year biochemistry major and a student athlete. She plays basketball at the collegiate level and enjoys participating in fundrais- ers and marathons. Recently, she took part in a 5K Sickle Cell Walk. Her dream is to study autoimmune disorders and diseases that disable their victims.


RICHARD BARRETT Civil Engineering, Class of 2014 University of the District Columbia


A native Jamaican, Richard Barrett earned a 4.0 this semester and did so with tremendous dedication to his studies. He is a soccer defender and a smart decision- maker. He will earn his degree and return to his native Jamaica or stay in the United States; either way, he’ll enjoy a bright future.


REGINALD DAVIS Aerospace Science Engineering Major, Class of 2012 Tuskegee University


Reginald is a wide receiver and long snapper for the Golden Tigers. He is also three-year letterman, and started all 11 games with a 9-2 season. A member of Tuskegee’s Air Force ROTC, he is in charge of training 200 cadets. This summer he endured a 28-day extensive training camp where he won the Superior Performer and Warrior Spirit awards.

Jessica Nunez is an electrical en- gineering major at the University of the District of Columbia. A transplant from the Republic of Ecuador, she has domi- nated on the court and in the classroom. She made the 2010 Atlantic Coast Con- ference Women’s Tennis All-Conference First Team and she earned above a 3.0 this semester.
