Pacific Intermountain Parking & Transportation

Association The Northwest ParkingAssociation (NWPA) has changed

its name. It is now known as Pacific Intermountain Parking and TransportationAssociation (PIPTA). Members were invited to provide input on the proposed

name change before the recent board vote. The new name more accurately describes the geographic representation of the group, as well as the direction and scope of the industry with regard to parking as part of the larger transportation system, officials said. This year’s association conference and trade show will be

July 26-28 at the HotelMurano in downtown Tacoma,WA. The PIPTAConferenceCommittee, led by JoshKavanagh of theUni- versity of Washington and Bridgette Johnson of Washington State University, is excited to bring this year’s conference back to the I-5 corridor after its successful 2008 conference in Boise. The PIPTAMembership Committee, led by Casey Jones of

the University of Colorado, is in the middle of a membership campaign. The strategic membership plan utilizes potential lead- ers and members in each state, who are busy spreading aware- ness of the association and personally contacting industry prospects and inviting themto get involved. PIPTAis looking for- ward to expanding its influence and value within the region as a result of the effort.
