Parkeon and Skidata to Form‘Strategic Alliance’ Parkeon and Skidata intend to form a “strategic alliance,” a


joint press release announced in lateMarch, which also was big news at IntertrafficAmsterdam 2010 (see the “Big Ben” column in thismonth’s PT). The announcement said that Skidata, a specialist in park-


ing facility management for gated parking areas, and Parkeon, an on-street parking systems manufacturer, see “a high poten- tial of possible benefits for their respective customers by pro- viding an enhanced service offering and leveraging on both infrastructures.” TheMarch 24 press release goes on: “More simplicity for


parking operators, increasing their sales, and providing parking customers with maximum convenience – this has been both (companies’) formula for success. Skidata, with more than 30 years’ history of success, has over 6,000 installations globally, which speaks for itself.” Said Skidata CEO Charles Egli: “In keeping with the trend


toward greatermobility, the interaction between private and pub- lic transportation is becomingmore andmore important. Parking plays a key role in this development.” For Parkeon, with 165,000 terminals in more than 50 coun-


tries and 3,000 cities, and 95,000 banking transactions per day, “the alliance presents a significant opportunity to deliver addi- tional value,” the announcement said. Added Parkeon PresidentYvesChambeau: “Nowis the right time to bring together on- and off-street parking to provide an
