Weaverville Chilly weather sets scene for Christmas parade Tis year for the annual Weav-
erville Christmas Parade, the weather really felt like Christmas- time with a mixture of rain, sleet and snow falling as temperatures hovered in the 30s. Te parade began 15 minutes
early to take advantage of a break in the weather. Eight-two en- trants were scheduled to appear, although a few likely dropped out because of the weather. Harold Payne was the grand
marshal for Weaverville’s 2010 Christmas Parade. He served on the Weaverville Town Council for 22 years and was instrumental in initiating many new ideas and
going to the Ivy River for Weav- erville’s water supply. Payne and his wife, Celia, reside on Sunset Street. He rode in Wayne Wil- son’s antique car. Te A & B Tire and Wheel
Company float won first place. Bullman Heating and Air took second place and Faith and Word Outreach won third. Te parade’s organizers wished
to thank the Weaverville Public Works Department, Weaverville Town Manager Michael Boaz, Weaverville Fire Chief Jeff Hoop- er, Deputy Fire Chief Eric Rog- ers, Battalion Chief Tim Laster, the Weaverville Fire Department,
Weaverville Police Chief Greg Stephens, the Weaverville Police Department and Tina Jenkins,
Penny Weaver, Megan Weaver and Rachel Randall of the parade committee for their help and sup-
port. This special to the Tribune.
