WELCOME to the February edition of West Coast Review. With Christmas and New Year now but a distant memory perhaps its time to get out and about and lose the extra pounds that we put on over the festive period. What could be easier than walking? You set the pace and there are plenty of people out there doing exactly the same thing. We meet a group of local people who will encourage you to see walking in a new light. Still on a health theme – we catch up with the volunteers who run Oban’s Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Therapy Centre which treats up to 30 clients a week for a variety of illnesses. Perhaps you overspent in the hustle and bustle that surrounds a modern day Christmas. We help you get back on the rails with a look at how to sort that Christmas debt, control the credit card and bolt-down the budgets to get your runaway financial train back on the rails. If you ate too much turkey at Christmas, or drank too much festive spirit at New Year we take you to meet the children around the world who really on Mary’s Meals for any food, on any day of the year. The Dalmally-based charity currently feeds 400,000 children in 16 countries around the world. Do you like a good mystery – especially one with a local twist? Turn to page 14 and read about a war time story that has never found an ending – unless you know something that know-one else knows? Life through the Lens takes you back to a variety of dates – from 1962, 1980, 1987 and a few from not-so-long-ago. Always good for a laugh or to spark that special memory. If you have a story to tell, or would like to make a contribution to West Coast review, we look forward to hearing from you. Simply contact our office by phone, email, fax or post.
