Obsession, interest, dedication – what defines the way people identify with their burning passions in life? It might be a lifestyle, a type of music, a way of dressing, the wheels you ride or drive, the pictures you wear on your skin. It might be a sport. Michael Dearden asks his clients to put their passions under the scrutiny of his classically simple studio lighting. His own passion would be real film in real rollfilm cameras, but digital is the only way today. He still tries to make his work look as if it comes from a Hasselblad 500C and a darkroom.
