Spiritual Awakenings During the “What the Bleep Do We Know!?” craze
about five years ago, IONS brought Dr. Amit Goswami, who was featured in the movie, to its lectern. The group also arranged an auditorium webcast with Dr. John Hagelin, from the same film and also a featured in- terviewee in “The Secret” movie. Many scientists and researchers affiliated with The University of Arizona lecture for IONS Tucson. On October 1st
stage, who spoke on “Energetic NLP: Intuition, Wisdom and Spiritual Power.” On November 5th
, IONS brought Art Giser to the Unity , IONS brings in
author-activist Sobonfu Somé to speak on “Intimacy: A Gift from Spirit” and how we establish and sustain healthy re- lationships with Spirit, self, and loved ones. IONS presents the film “Inner Journey: The Path of Mysticism” at Unity on November 21st
. For the final meeting of 2010 on December
3, IONS brings the internationally known yoga maven Amy Weintraub, author of Yoga for Depression, whose topic is “LifeForce Yoga and Mood: The Evidence and the Practice.” All lectures are held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the first Friday of each month. IONS’ Psychic Explorers Group meets on the second
Tuesday evening of each month in a Unity of Tucson Annex classroom. People of like mind come together to cultivate their abilities through pathways such as intuition, psy- chometrics, spirit guides and auras. The Universal Energy Circle Group gathers once a month on Fridays at Unity. The circle links energy practitioners—Reiki, Healing Touch, Johrei, Jin Shin Jyutsu, Chair Massage—and members of the
public who want to receive healing work. Each month the Book Group gathers around its cho- sen tome in a Unity classroom on the second and fourth Sunday evenings to discuss emerging paradigms, human potential and integrative health/healing. Clara Kramer, who co-facilitates the group with her husband Frank, calls the book-selection process “democratic.” She solicits title suggestions through an email list, compiles information on the suggestions via
Amazon.com, and sends it back to the members. The group then chooses three books that are each discussed in a six-week segment. At press time, the group was reading The Biology of Belief: Unleashing the Power of Consciousness, Matter & Miracles, by Bruce H. Lipton, Ph.D. “We recently got into an interesting dis- cussion about the science behind the [body’s] cells” and their chemistry,” Clara says. So, after years of work by dozens of devoted Tucso-
nans, IONS Tucson has put down roots and grown into a mighty knowing tree. “We have a structure,” Jennifer says, and “We’re in maintenance mode now, following a path.” For more information, contact the Tucson Institute of No- etic Sciences at 520-399-8285,
