EXECUTIVE INSTRUMENTS

Since 1961 the people at Executive

Instruments/ETS (EIETS) have become widely rec- ognized for reliable service to the aviation commu- nity. EIETS has become a leader in the repair, over- haul, exchange, modification and manufactur of air- craft instrumentation, avionics and night vision light- ing components. In the 1960’s EIETS was a pio- neer of the exchange programs so widely used in the industry today. Working closely with major manufacturers EIETS remains current with today’s changing technology and regulations. Active train- ing programs meet or exceed manufacturer require- ments for every item serviced or exchanged. Executive Technical Services (the ETS part of

EIETS) is internationally known for the manufacture of internal and external night vision compatible air- craft lighting components, as well as radio and instrument

modifications. In 1988 Executive

Instruments saw a new industry being born. At that time the US military committed to retrofitting its

ROTORCRAFTPROFESSIONAL

aircraft with lighting compatible to the newly designed Aviators Night Vision Goggles (NVG). Very detailed specifications were developed by the military (such as the Naval Air Warfare Center) to define the lighting requirements. The specification eventually evolved into the present MIL-STD- 3009. As a result, Executive Instruments established its subsidiary ETS which was dedicated to provid- ing reliable and safe Night Vision Lighting compo- nents and modifications according to the military specifications. Because EIETS already had 27 years of experience

inside the instruments (including

lighting experience), it was a natural progression to install the NVG lighting inside the instruments. Customers included the US government as well as major airframe manufacturers all over the globe. Slowly the highly trained military pilots began to leave the military and enter the civilian world as pilots for airborne law enforcement and emergency medical operations. No longer in combat, these

former military pilots knew that the goggles could make their civilian flying much safer. As more and more public use helicopters were outfitted with NVG compatible lighting, it became clear to the FAA that a civilian version of the military specifi- cation should be established. EIETS personnel were asked to sit on the FAA

sponsored ARINC SC-196 committee to help write the document which would define the FAA requirements for civilian night vision goggle com- patible lighting. The result is the DO-275 docu- ment which was accepted on the twelveth of October 2001. Quality is the number one focus at EIETS. The

company earned an ISO9001:2000 AS9100 cer- tificate in January of 2008. The technicians, serv- ice representatives, engineers and support personnel at EIETS are all dedicated to providing the highest quality service and manufacturing. abcd
