Weaverville employees must meet the requirements of full retirement under the Local Government Retirement System and the last 12 years with the Town of Weaverville to be vested. At the time this policy was put in place, the state had a five-year vesting period and Buncombe County had a three-year vesting period. The Weaverville benefit does not pay for a supplement after age 65. If the employee goes back to work after retirement and is offered health insurance at the new employer, the coverage is dropped.
