North Buncombe Local schools need supplies

there are a variety of items schools could use in order to hit the ground running. Standard items needed by all lev-


els of schools include No. 2 pencils, loose leaf paper, copy paper, dry erase markers, Kleenex and hand sanitizer. Middle and high schools need high- lighters, sticky notes, index cards and colored pencils. Elementary schools need zip-lock baggies, baby wipes, glue sticks and crayons. Woodfin Elementary School is


specifically in need of book bags, five-section notebook dividers and packages of construction paper. Weaverville Primary School requests copy paper as the overall top need for the school and also asks for a few non-rolling book bags. North Buncombe Middle School

art department is in need of any craft-related donations. Te high school will also be taking monetary donations to help cover student club fees for the coming years. Mentors will be needed for the coming school year, once it starts, to help with students who need role models or specified help in different academic areas. In addition to standard supplies, Barnardsville Elementary School is in need of volunteers for tutoring, beautifying the school


grounds or working with the school’s fall festival. Tis weekend is North Carolina’s


tax-free holiday. Te tax exemption applies to clothing, footwear and school supplies under $100, sports and recreation equipment under $50, computers under $3,500 and computer equipment under $250, making it an opportunistic time to help out local teachers and children in need.
