But it was Hartson in San Diego California (now Rural Metro) who rec‐ ognized the need to safely raise and


lower incubators. Not a single ramp system on the market at that time was acceptable. When at an angle on the ramp, infants experienced unnecessary


stress and their vital signs on the moni‐ tors proved it. When returned to a level position in the ambulance or on the ground the infant’s vital signs returned to normal and stabilized again. This became a great concern to all involved from the ambulance crew to the nurs‐ es. A better solution had to be found. So it only made sense that Mac’s Lift Gate Inc. be the ones to answer the call. Not long afterwards, the Mac’s Ambulance Lift for Incubators was designed, created and installed. The first and only lift of its kind at that time it remains the safest and quickest way to transport our incubated loved ones. Since then we have worked exten‐ sively with the different vehicle manu‐ factures and many ambulance manu‐ factures. Some of these manufacturers include American Emergency Vehicles, Leader Industries, Wheeled Coach Industries, Horton Emergency Vehicles and Road Rescue.
