Learning methods and assessment


The MA programme seeks to attain its aims through a varied range of learning activities:


• Lectures (including online supporting inputs)


• Seminars/tutorials (comprising structured oral and visual presentations and small group work)


• Practical experience (to be provided in specific ways through the methodological and some optional modules)


• Formative presentations • Self-guided learning • Dissertation supervision


The MA is awarded on a combination of course work (67%) and a dissertation (33%). The summative assessments include essays, portfolios, exams (depending on module choice) and a 15,000-word dissertation.


Formative assessment is an integral part of the teaching and learning programme and includes oral presentations and drafts of summative assignments. On-line resources will also be used for discussing progress and feedback.
