Live at Theatre at the Carlton in Teignmouth
THERE is always a welcome waiting for you at the Carlton Theatre and a programme to suit all tastes is being presented with a mixture of amateur and professional shows. We started the season with the All England
Theatre Festival quarter final which was on May 1 and more live theatre later in May when there are two one act plays, (plus refreshment), by the award winning local author Eleanor Fossey. Then as a complete contrast we have wrestling quickly followed by Jazz club – open to all – and then ‘My Generation’ with a tribute to The Who – and that’s all before the end of May.
The theatre programme is published in a weekly
advert in the local papers and this is the best way of keeping up to date with our varied presentations.
The July play by the Teignmouth Players is the
very funny ‘Nobody’s Perfect’ by Simon Williams and at the end of July we start a season of ‘Summertime Spectacular’ which runs to the end of August.. In amongst this we have jazz evenings, coffee mornings (for that well earned cuppa) and late in June the Teignmouth Folk Festival is featured in the theatre, and don’t forget to look out for the ever popular Music Hall
The Carlton Theatre has a comfortable 200 seat
auditorium with a well appointed and welcoming bar, where one can enjoy a drink or other refreshment before, during and after the show.
If you would like an evening at the theatre where
you can relax and be entertained phone the Box office which is open Monday to Saturday between 10am and 12noon and one hour before curtain up: Tel. 01626 778991.
As the programme may be subject to alteration please see the advertisement on the front page and consult the local press for details of the above shows and others that may be introduced.
See you at the Carlton in the Summer!
THERE are few clubs the length and breadth of the country which possess as splendid a situation as Teignmouth Golf Club.
Set on the plateau of Little Haldon, some 800ft
above sea level, it has stunning views across Lyme Bay, Dartmoor and the Teign Estuary.
This heathland course is thought by many to be the best design work of Dr Mackenkie who has designed courses all over the world, including Augusta where the USA Masters is played. This interesting course is not excessively long by modern standards and is virtually level throughout.
Green fees are welcome and full catering
facilities and a bar are available in the clubhouse which has undergone recent major refurbishment. Membership is available.
Visiting golfers can enter the ever-popular
Teignmouth Golf Festival (Saturday, July 4th to Friday, July 10th). There are competitions every day, followed by social functions. Excellent prizes are distributed on the Friday evening.
