ST NICHOLAS PRIORY – A TUDOR HOME. St Nicholas Priory, The Mint, off Fore Street, Exeter EX4 3BL. Originally part of a medieval priory, this splendid building was later lived in by the wealthy Hurst family. It is now presented as their furnished Elizabethan town house with replica furniture, sumptuous fabrics and rich colours. Come and feel at home in this historical family house. www.exeter.gov.uk/priory To June 30 – The Royal Albert Memorial Museum, Exeter, has a lively programme of exhibitions and activities Out and About at venues in the city and the county while its wonderful Victorian building on Queen Street is closed for modernisation and transformation. Tudor life can also be experienced first hand in the heart of the Exeter at St Nicholas Priory, now open as an Elizabethan town house. New exhibitions and events are listed below by month followed by details of other exhibitions and St Nicholas Priory To 1 August, free – RAMM display at Topsham: Global Gardeners. Topsham Museum, 25 Strand, Topsham, Exeter EX3 0AX. Veitch & Sons: Exeter’s plant hunting adventures. This fascinating display charts the adventures of the intrepid Veitch nursery plant hunters, who travelled all over the world in the 19th and 20th centuries collecting new species of plants. During their travels, the plant hunters brought back objects as souvenirs. The Veitch family donated many of these items to RAMM in the 1880s and they are now part of the RAMM’s collection.
