Dear Readers, S ummer is here and we are all over the world again, and world class riders are

coming here to the west coast to visit as well. The normal northward bound group is in Calgary, Canada at Spruce Meadows where we have seen amazing results on both the professional level and riders just out of the Junior ranks setting the awards on fire. Will Simpson won the $100,000 CN Performance class and Karl Cook won the $75,000 TD Cup Grand Prix. In Europe, Lucy Davis won the Pries der Duetschen

Kreditbank AG class in Gera, Germany. Spooner is traveling with the Global Tour and holding his own and we anxiously await the Mexican entourage arriving in August at the Blenheim shows. That group adds spice and energy to our shows and we love having them. I have to say the number of shows on this side of the United States is becoming staggering. Take a calendar and mark the dates with the shows for the rest of the year, it is a study of how many we can possibly stack one on the other. Every weekend from now till December 1st has at least one major show, several of them have three at a time and then add the "B-C" and local level. That coupled with the fact the economy has taken a toll on the number of competitors and the number of shows they go to, cannot inevitably be good for our sport. It is ONLY my opinion but I think we are watering down some of it. Sure it is easy to say let the best rise to the top. Chris Kappler has some suggestions, maybe not the answer but at least he has an idea to be considered. It was mind boggling to go to the beautiful

Blenheim facility for the local county horse show the other day and see so many soccer games all over the place on the grass. What a blending of horses and other sports!! Blenheim is to be commended in finding the balance of land use that will allow that horse show facility to be there for many years to come. This issue of ShowBiz will go to far off parts of the nation, as well as the globe, with so many requests for it coming in daily. Our first European request was for a box to be sent to the Aachen,

Germany show. WOW, that was pretty cool. Thanks for your support!! I say every time it is about

our sport and as long as the advertisers keep us going, and YOU read it, we will be around. THANKS!!!!!
