He believes that knowledge is a valuable com- modity, and that learning and ex- periencing have been important elements in his progression from teenager to adult.


He is a Seeker of Knowledge Examining Karl’s approach to


the current political discourse in this country is indicative of his un- derlying philosophy of life. He is not satisfied with just hearing the banter, talking points and spin of political discussions between rival political ideologies, and then accepting one side or the other’s arguments. He reads, he learns, he studies, and he seeks knowledge from all available sources. He then formulates reasonable ideas that create social solutions rather than more intransi- gence. He is taking the same approach to his life goals and career path. Crafting his persona and path in life through an informed approach, but still allowing for his inherent creativity to play a role.

Karl seizes on the op- portunity to ride very talented, yet harder-to-ride horses in a similar vein to Henry Kaiser’s philosophy that; “A problem is an opportunity in work clothes.” An interesting and dynamic young man, Karl, is not


satisfied with a just putting in a normal effort; he con- tinues to push himself and strives for perfection. Karl’s parents are fully supportive of his activities with only one request; they only ask that a complete and proper effort be given to each of his various endeavors. For Karl Cook, there are more courses to conquer,


with trainers Butch and Lu Thomas, both FEI World Cup Finals participants, along with Olympian and World Cup Finalist Guy Thomas, Karl has progressed from a beginner rider to being a regular in Grand Prix and International competitions. While today it is somewhat of a rarity for a beginning ju- nior rider to advance to the Grand Prix and World Cup level at one barn, he credits the quality and consistency of instruction at Willow Tree
