Te Asheville Quilt Guild and

the Super Saturday Program at the University of North Carolina Asheville have teamed up to of- fer “Quilt in a Shoe Box”. Te program was developed by North Buncombe resident Julie Simpson in hope that the love of quilting will be passed on to another gen- eration. “Quilt in a Shoe Box” has had

between 13 and 18 participants, both girls and boys from elemen- tary school through middle school.

bill, how long would it take? According to one recent poll, only 40 percent of those surveyed think they can find a document at a moment’s notice, and only 49 percent said they could do so with a little looking. While 89 percent of Americans surveyed rated themselves as fairly organized when it comes to having their financial paperwork in order, nearly 25 percent had either lost or forgotten about an important financial document. Worse yet, 16 percent of those surveyed indicated that they had lost money or received a charge as a result of their poorly organized paperwork. Is your financial house in order? HINT: While you can shred your monthly and quarterly statements from brokerage, 401(k), IRA, Keogh, and other investment accounts as new ones replace the old ones, you should retain annual statements until you sell the investments. With today’s busy schedules, it can be challenging for people to keep bills and other paperwork in order. We help clients feel informed and in control of their assets with easy-to-read statements. At CREASMAN 401(k) PLAN ADVISOR, INC., we view financial planning as a comprehensive, ongoing process designed to manage all areas of a client’s financial goals – from college education funding to retirement and estate planning. We do not require minimum net worth or income level amounts. No one is turned away. Our requirement is that you are looking for a solution to a financial problem. Please call us at 828-253-7231 to schedule a consultation. We are located at 1328F Patton Ave. www.creasmanfp.com

Several of the young quilters have returned multiple semesters. By the end of the Super Satur-

day Program the children are able to complete a small quilt or wall hanging while learning sewing skills they will have for a lifetime. Te wall hanging is created using four 9-inch blocks and various quilting techniques. Each week different Asheville

Quilt guild members, many of whom live in the Weaverville and North Buncombe area, join in teaching sewing methods such as hand piecing, appliqué, crazy quilt stitching, machine piecing, embel- lishment, sandwiching and edge binding.

Te children are eager to learn

and enjoy the artistic freedom the project was designed to encourage. Some of the proceeds from the

annual Asheville Quilt Show are used to fund the supplies for this program. Work from the Super Saturday program will be on dis- play in the Asheville Quilt Show’s “Stars Over the Mountains” Aug. 6, 7 and 8 at the North Carolina Arboretum. For more information about
