student Geoff Gerber will be par- ticipating in the JCC Macabbi In- ternational Olympic Games as a baseball pitcher/third baseman this summer. A delegation from Charlotte se-
lected Gerber. Te games are made up of Jewish teens aging from 13- 16 years old and have been held
annually since 1982. Over 100,000 teens have participated since its in- ception. Gerber said, “Of course, I would
love our team to receive a gold medal but I am just honored to be part of the games. I am hoping some day to get the opportunity to play for the USA team and also go to Israel.”
He has been playing baseball for
the past six years. Gerber, 14, will be traveling to Richmond, Va. to walk in the opening ceremonies starting Aug. 1 and will be there until closing ceremonies Aug. 6. Area sponsors include Philly
