Daniel Craig, age 89, of 241 Ox Creek Road, died Monday, May 3, 2010. Mrs. Craig was born May 22,
1920, in the Bill’s Creek Commu- nity. She was a member of Caro- lina Baptist Tabernacle. She was a daughter of the late Enoch and Viola Searcy McDaniel. In addition to her parents, she was also pre- ceded in death by her husband, Robert Wesley Craig, who died in 1993; sons, Harry Nelson Craig and Bobby Lee Craig; and brother, Albert McDaniel. Surviving are her daughter, Car-
olyn Ballard; siblings, Lottie Craig, Carl McDaniel, Dolan Weather- man, Sue Pritchard, Wayne Mc- Daniel, Ann Blackwell, and Edna Wishon; three grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. Mrs. Craig’s funeral service will
be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, May 6, 2010, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Lanny Cobb and Rev. James Walker officiating. Burial will be at 12 pm Thursday in Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. The family received friends from

“Chuck” Riley, 83 of 23 Hamburg Mountain Road died Friday, April 30, 2010. Charles was born Aug. 8, 1926,
in Sullivan County, Tenn. and was a career military officer before re- tiring to Weaverville in the 1970s. He was the son of the late Charles Andrew Riley, Sr. and Marian Lee Null Riley. Col. Charles A. Riley, USAF
Retired, served with the Navy Amphibious Forces in the Pa- cific Theater during World War II, (Iwo Jima), and the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division after the war. He then transferred to the U.S. Air Force in 1949 to attend Pilot School. He flew aerial combat in Korea with the Air Rescue Ser- vice, then two tours in Vietnam in Air Commando Squadrons. He

paw” Miller, 96 of Asheville, woke up this morning with a new strong body and in the presence of the Lord. He left his weary tired body behind on Friday, April 30, 2010. The family will miss him beyond words but our joy comes in know- ing that he is having a glorious homecoming with our loved ones that have gone before him. James was born on Jan. 9, 1914
in Yancey County, NC to Donnie Edwards and Suel Miller. After the death of his parents at an early age; his grandfather, Mack Mill- er who he loved and cherished, raised him. Preceded him in death are his wives, Dexter Doan Miller and Irene Chandler Miller. Also preceding him are three chil- dren: Boyd and Robert James (Bobby) Miller and Irene Revis. James also had two brothers who passed away at an early age: Wil- liam Thomas and Riley Miller. Surviving are Pat Fender

Finals May 26-29 at Michigan State University. Tis team has worked together for five years and this is the team’s first and last opportunity to compete at World Finals. Te trip is costly with a very limited time to raise the funds. A thank-you dinner for donors will be hosted by Sunnyside Café. Te team members will be waiting on tables

He served in the United States Army during WWII and was a lifetime member of Bald Creek Masonic Lodge #397 AF & AM. He was a member of Christian Creek Missionary Baptist Church. He re- tired from the VA Hospital in 1966. One of the highlights of James’ day was seeing his favorite bud- dy, Ronnie at breakfast.
