of the Parliament of the World’s Religions and as a member of the United Religions Initiative. She created Kali Natha Yoga, the yoga of transformation. Its teachings are based on kind- ness, compassion and service, embracing the sacred practices of many traditions. This year’s intensive is themed “The Pulse of the Mother
Within.” According to Ma Jaya, women sometimes hide behind their femininity because they are afraid to acknowledge the goddess within them. Participants in this intensive will learn to recognize their own power as their inner goddess comes forward. There will be another intensive in Atlanta April 16-18. The cost of the intensive is $325. Yoga to a new level by teaching how to apply spinal release while moving through the world and life,” says Serene White, owner of Serene Yoga and Healing. “The workshop will help students learn how to walk in a whole new way, using abdomi- nal muscles and legs to support the spine.” The workshop is appropriate for both new and experienced yoga students, White says.
The workshop runs 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 17, and 9 a.m. to
5:30 p.m. April 18. Each day includes two extended Svaroopa Yoga classes, which will integrate and refine new concepts as the weekend progresses. “After-lunch discussions will weave relevant anatomy principles and yoga philosophy together to guide participants toward a more complete understanding,” White says. “Casey offers a warm, detail-oriented approach and encourages each student to explore his or her own experience.” Gerdes has been studying and teaching anatomy, philosophy and underlying principles of Svaroopa Yoga since 1996 and was a teacher trainer for eight years. Enrollment is $255, or $224 with a $75, non-refundable

session nine essential oils, which are considered highly thera- peutic, with antiviral, antibacterial and antispasmodic proper- ties. Each oil is dropped and layered in a raindrop fashion up the spine and then lightly massaged in. “These restorative oils are absorbed by the body and are within the bloodstream within 20 minutes,” Petree says. “The oils stay in the body from five to seven days and are discharged like other nutrients. Many people report increased energy, alleviation of back pain, and a general sense of clarity after a treatment.” Raindrop Therapy also boosts the immune system, she says.
