Sports Turf Maintenance and Lawn Care Courses

Now that the dark days of winter are behind us and spring is just around the corner, volunteers and part time groundsmen and greenkeepers will be turning their thoughts to renovating and repairing their football and rugby pitches and preparing for the summer sports.

So, whether you are putting your winter pitch to bed, or want to get your cricket pitch or bowls green in tip-top condition for the approaching season, we have the course to help you.

Our 1-day, Sports Turf Maintenance courses - accredited by Lantra Awards and delivered by experienced, professional groundsmen - give an overview of the safe and effective use of turf maintenance machinery and equipment. As well as picking up lots of tips from the experts, delegates each receive a copy of the comprehensive Course Manual which includes a month-by-month programme of the maintenance operations required over a twelve month period.

Lawn Care Course

We have developed Lawn Care for the 21st Century course in conjunction with Phil Sharples, author of The Lawn Guide (available through the Pitchcare online shop).

The course is designed primarily for the keen amateur gardener who wishes to produce and maintain a domestic lawn, but it would be equally beneficial

for anyone looking to produce a professional surface. This comprehensive day takes delegates through establishing a lawn, tackling maintenance tasks professionally, dealing with pests and diseases, moss and thatch, irrigation and lots more. Organic practices are considered and a monthly working diary is also included. Delegates also receive a complimentary copy of Phil's book.

The following courses, dates and venues are currently available but additional courses are likely to be arranged according to demand, so do visit www.pitchcare.com for the latest information:

Cricket - Spring Preparation and Summer Maintenance

10 March Wolverhampton 08 April West London

Lawn Care 20 March Worcester

Bowls - Flat and Crown Green Maintenance 15 April

Artificial Surfaces 29 April Warwickshire

Remember that we have the capacity to arrange bespoke courses on turf care and related subjects through our network of experienced professionals, so if you have a particular requirement please don’t hesitate to contact us. We are always happy to arrange group training for a minimum of six or so delegates.

Course Venues

Our aim is to make it as easy as possible for our members to access training, so we are looking for venues throughout the UK. In most cases all that is required is a suitable meeting room for up to, say, 20 delegates with facilities to offer basic catering.

For the turf maintenance courses it would be an advantage if a range of machinery and

equipment was available for

demonstration purposes. If you think you can help, please e-mail your club
