Chairman, Martin Harvey, welcoming everyone to Sywell which, as he said, looked like a fi lm set for Hercule Poirot. He continued with a summing up of FIA’s achievements in 2009 and the plans for 2010, which include the purchase of a new HQ in Hampton, Middlesex. Martin was also pleased to advise that
the Association had gained 105 new members in 2009 and that the FIA is not just a ‘big boys club’ as 67% of members have a turnover of less than £1m and that there is a good mix of members of varying sizes. Next the guest speaker,
Les Byrom, Chairman of the Business and Community Safety Forum posed a question to the audience – “What do we want from Britain as a whole, to make it a safer country?”. He continued by advising that he felt partnership with the private sector is the future for administration within the government and that prevention rather than cure is key to ensure
