ACCLAIM FOR C-TEC’S LATEST INNOVATION, THE REVOLUTIONARY HUSH BUTTON

C-TEC has scooped yet another award for innovation, this time for its revolutionary Hush Button, a product specifi cally designed to prevent false alarms in Houses of Multiple Occupation. The company won the Award for Most Innovative Business as its Hush Button was hailed at the North West Chamber of Commerce hosted Wigan Business Awards as a truly innovative product which would, undoubtedly, have a positive impact and potentially save thousands of lives in housing complexes, student halls of residence and tower block apartments. Explains Andrew Foster, C-TEC’s Managing Director and inventor of the trail-blazing product: “A Hush Button can be looked upon as a miniature fi re alarm, providing the resident with the means to silence false alarms themselves, for example, should they set the fi re alarm off accidentally by burning a meal so preventing false alarms and full-scale evacuation of other residents in the building. By putting each resident fi rmly in control of their own fi re detection systems, Hush Buttons reduce false alarms, unnecessary and

irritating building evacuations at all times of the day and night and the likelihood of a real fi re alarm being ignored. The benefi ts are immense.” Established in 1981, C-TEC is a leading manufacturer of life safety equipment including fi re alarm control panels, disabled refuge systems and call communication systems. All C-TEC’s products are manufactured in the UK in an environment approved by the three major independent approval bodies, the LPCB, the BSI and the VdS. Last year, the company’s products were exported to over 80 countries. C-TEC’s Director of Accounts, Linda Cunliffe said: “Winning this

award is an amazing achievement for C-TEC. We are delighted that our latest innovation has been recognised in this way and incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication of everyone that works at C-TEC”.

New fast-set-up AlarmSense® two-wire fi re alarm panels from Kentec For further information contact: Tel: +44 (0) 1942 403810 • Fax: +44 (0) 1942 829867 • www.c-tec.co.uk

It’s estimated that an AlarmSense® two-wire system can achieve a 20-25% reduction in set-up time compared with a standard four-wire conventional system, because all devices in a given zone can be wired to the same pair of cables. Kentec Electronics Ltd, the UK’s leading independent

manufacturer of fi re detection and alarm control panels, launches their new AlarmSense® compatible Sigma CP-A 2, 4 and 8 zone fi re alarm control and indicating panels. The range is fully compliant with European standards BS EN54-2 and BS EN54-4. Apollo Alarmsense® devices, including smoke and heat detectors, call points, base sounders, base sounder/beacons and relay units, can all be wired to the same pair of cables, with rapid system confi guration for common, zonal or two-stage alarm using simple menu options on the panel. False alarm management is particularly effi cient, with alarm verifi cation via the general and local alarm facility on AlarmSense® sounders and beacons, a signifi cant feature for HMO (Houses of Multiple Occupation) applications.

All control panels have an integral, mains powered battery

charger and power supply compliant with the requirements of BS EN54-4. The Sigma CP-A heralds a range of important new Kentec products being launched that will further add to the development of the UK’s most comprehensive fi re detection and

extinguishing control panel range.

Updated conventional interface module for addressable fi re systems For product information Kentec +44 (0)1322 222121 • www.kentec.co.uk

System Sensor Europe has introduced an updated conventional zone interface module, the M210E-CZR, designed for use in addressable fire systems to enable a zone of conventional two-wire detectors to be managed by the control panel via a single module address on a loop. The module enables conventional intrinsically safe detectors to interface with an addressable system, a typical installation methodology in well-defined locations such as separate machinery rooms and boiler houses, where knowing the individual detector address is not necessarily important. In addition to this core functionality, when existing conventional systems are being replaced and upgraded with a new addressable system, the M210E-CZR allows an existing conventional zone to be interfaced to the addressable system, enabling it to be installed in stages without loss of protection.

In common with other System Sensor modules, the unit can be housed in a stand-alone enclosure or mounted on

a standard 35mm DIN rail. The module operates over a wide 12 to 28.5VDC voltage range and limits the zone current to a maximum of 60mA. The power for the conventional detector zone can be supplied from an external power supply or from the analogue loop. The M210E-CZR can also be used to interface System Sensor’s conventional beam

detector to addressable control panels.
