would add that I use it so show the passing of years). If anyone reading this article enjoys the pursuit of
knowledge then dowsing is for you. Once those rods respond to your question I can promise
that you will never have a dull moment in your life again! At ancient sites you can dowse the past, ask questions about who built them and why; for health you can dowse sleep patterns, allergies and food intolerances as well as vitamin deficiencies, auric fields etc; when dowsing water you can plot where the best place is to drill a bore hole, where underground streams run and in which direction also their depth and flow rate; and for archaeology you can dowse for coins and building foundations that were destroyed many centuries ago. Even dowsing for the footprints of someone from the past is possible (Did Julius Caesar walk past your front door).
The list is so varied and endless.
I purposely left earth energies out of the list as it is my
favourite subject, perhaps ‘specialist subject’ in ‘Mastermind’ speak, and feel that it should have a paragraph all to itself! That the earth has a gigantic magnetic field surrounding it is well known. Less so are the effects this energy can have on us human beings as well as all living things on this planet.
Geopathic stress, the term used to neatly wrap up these
detrimental energies, is radiation rising from under the ground to cause illness by disrupting your immune system. All holy sites including stone circles, churches etc have earth energy lines running through them, it is what gives them a ‘special’ feel or ‘buzz’. Our ancestors could both see and/or feel these energy lines showing them where to build these sacred monuments or buildings.
Houses also have dowsable energy, perhaps retaining
patterns of the last family living there; they can be detrimental as well as beneficial. Energies can soak into the bricks and mortar and start to cause problems for the new family. How many times have you walked into a property and shivered or disliked the feel of it? Time to pick up those dowsing rods and ask “Were the last family living here happy”? If the answer is no, then its time for you to start ‘healing your home’!
If anything in this article has stimulated your curiosity then
it is time to either join a local dowsing group in your area or go on a dowsing course to learn the fundamental aspects and skills of this ancient art. I run The Dowsing Academy, with David Lockwood, which specialises in teaching dowsing from a basic or foundation level to advanced geomancy (earth and geopathic stress healing). The British Society of Dowsers who can be contacted on
www.britishdowsers.org also offer a good range of courses.
You don’t need to be a ‘spiritual’ person, just one who
enjoys something a ‘little different’. Dowsers come in all shapes, sizes and colours; you don’t need to have a beard either! Once you are bitten by the bug, watch the rods move in your hands, or a pendulum respond to your question, you will never be the same again.
As a society we are programmed to move and look forward all the time, taking the advances in science and

medicines as a natural part of our lives; however we are missing the point.
By all means embrace the new. But look also to the past,
it is only by combining the two can we truly progress. The aboriginal tribes of Australia, the Native Americans and the Maori were as one with Mother Earth. They knew how to be in harmony with natural energies and use them to their advantage, for the rest of humanity too. They help heal the planet. \
