How long have you been in dogs? I have been involved (seriously) in dogs since the 1980's. I started showing Akitas during that time, both in conformation and obedience.
How long have you had Australian Cattle Dogs? I have had ACDs since 1992.
Why did you choose the Australian Cattle Dog? As I said I had previously shown and bred Akitas. They are wonderful dogs, but not without serious health problems in- cluding bloat and gastric torsion. My Akita survived torsion and lived to be 16 (quite unheard of for this breed), but following his death I decided I could no longer deal with any breed that was susceptible to torsion. Being a full time professional dog trainer I had several clients with ACDs. I found them to be smart, loyal and extremely versatile. Those qualities helped make my decision to look to purchase an ACD.

How did you first get involved in ACDs? I first got involved with ACDs when I purchased a male puppy from Craig Watson. Let me tell you that going from a laid back Akita to a fired up 7 week old ACD was almost too much to bear!
The phrase "let sleeping dogs lie" took on new meaning because the only time this puppy was still was when he was sleeping. He matured to be U-CD, AKC CH. Far Fetched Hill St. Blues, CDX,PT,VQW,TDI. AKA "Bosco". Always owner handled, Bosco held the ranking of #2 obedience ACD and he was also the sire of ten Champions including the incredible bitch, Ch. Hill St.'s Red Alert, ROM (Echo), who is ranked #1 in the ROM standings.
What do you do with your dogs (i.e. herding, performance, conformation)? Currently we own four ACDs. Although our kennel name is Hill St. Blues all of our dogs are red! That's right...evil reds! Actually none of them are evil...that is just an ole wives’ tale, but my current favorite is a two year old red male who is a grandson of Bosco. He has his RN and CGC and we are working on his CH, tile. Once he has attained
