Introducing Pepper – the Naughty Cattle Dog!
For those of you that dabble in Facebook, you may have already stumbled across this little character, who makes the odd comment about thermonuclear farts, chasing bandicoots and ripping the wheels of his owner’s lawnmower! Well here’s a bit more of a background about this cute Aussie larrikin.
‘Pepper! Naughty Dog!’
Meet Pepper the Naughty Cattle Dog, a friendly yet mischievous character invented by designer and writer, Barry ‘Baz’ Parker, who lives not too far from the birthplace of the ACD in New South Wales, Australia.
Pepper ‘The Naughty Cattle Dog is the main character in an upcoming, fully illustrated paperback entitled Pepper Gets Lost; a funny, fast page adventure, where Pepper gets hopelessly lost in the Aussie Bush with his mates Billy (a border collie), Kelly (a Kelpie) and Silky (a little Sydney Silky which is a very small, soft haired dog).
Things get worse for Pepper and his mates when they are captured by a gang of burly monitor lizards, and imprisoned in the lair of the deadly snake, King Brown.
‘It’s a fun book and everyone that has read it has loved it, especially in the 7 – 11 age range.’ Says Barry, ‘
Inspired by the antics of my Barry’s real ACD, The idea for Pepper the Naughty Cattle Dog began in 2002.
The reason why we haven’t seen Pepper in the shops yet is due to Barry’s meticulous planning.
“There’s no point doing this half-heartedly, so over the last four years I have been making plans to launch Pepper the Naughty Cattle Dog to become a successful children’s brand that can also exist as toys, games, clothes and perhaps one day an animated cartoon!
I’ll be marketing Pepper through a specially designed website, that we’re in the latter stages of designing. The website will also serve as a fan club, online shop and will be packed with features. Our deadline to complete the website is the end of July, so hopefully, if all goes well, we will begin to sell Pepper Gets Lost in August!
Pepper has been described as, ‘A likeable character, the writing has energy and the storylines with their very Australian settings and characters and themes of mateship have a real appeal to kids!’
The books and website are a launch pad for the brand and Barry’s goal is to make Pepper, the most famous Cattle Dog in the World!
