sunny mornings, I decided I would grow a few of my favorite summer vegetables. I had resolved I would not be so dependant on all the pro- duce that is transported in from other regions of our country and beyond. The local farmers market, and my own garden patch, could be eco friendly, supporting one an- other, as good friends should. Now that sounds simple enough

right? That is, with guidelines from those who “are in the know” for newbies, such as I. I pledged myself to go digging into my own earth patch. It would need to be a small space size, so time spent in the vegetable garden would not confine me and keep me from other interests.
