20th Annual Altrusa “Taste” Scheduled for April 11th

One of the Lakes Re-

gion’s most highly antic- ipated spring events is “ A Taste of the Lakes Re- gion”, a gourmet day of nibbling held every year by the Laconia chapter of Altrusa International. This is the 20th con- secutive year for this delicious fundraiser to be held, with proceeds going to community scholarships, charities and other projects. Hundreds of people

will gather again this year at the Convention Center at Opechee Inn & Spa in Lakeport on Sunday, April 11th, from 3-5 p.m., for a decadent afternoon. They will have the op- portunity to sample signature dishes from 29 popular Lakes Region restaurants who are supporting this year’s affair. Just picture yourself – a taste at a time – working your

way around the room, with a stop or two at the cash bar to cleanse your palate. There is no calorie counting allowed. And no one under the age of 21 will be admitted. This is a day of pure indulgement to enjoy with friends and family. Because of the amount of food preparation involved, tick-

ets, at just $25 per person, must be purchased ahead of time, and are available at Meredith Village Savings Bank, Hector’s Restaurant, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, Quik Laundry and from any Altrusa member. Celebrate spring in a traditional manner by attending the

Wright Museum Lecture to

Discuss Mountain Lions

On Sunday, April 11

at 2pm, the Wright Mu- seum will continue its weekly speaker series with a lecture explor- ing the possibility that mountain lions may once again live among us in New Hampshire. A skillful predator

that was adopted as the insignia for many WWII fighting units, the mountain lion – or cougar - is identifiable

by its tawny color, muscular build, and long, skinny tail. A common denizen of New England’s hills in colonial times, the large cat was displaced and hunted as settlers claimed land for farming. Today, there are spirited debates between experts and laymen alike as to whether mountain lions have returned. Admission to the event is $5 and free for Wright Museum members. Seating is limited and RSVPs are encouraged by calling 569-1212. The Wright Museum is located at 77 Cen- ter Street in Wolfeboro. In addition to the 2p.m. lecture, the museum galleries will be open from noon to 4p.m.; museum admission is included in the ticket price. For a full listing of the winter’s lectures, visit the events page at www.wright- museum.org.
