Robert Olinger has rejoined Forestry Resources, in Fort Myers, as its vice president of sales, marketing and store operations. The company manufactures environmentally friendly landscape mate- rials and products for regional wholesale and retail distribution. Olinger first joined the company in
1997 as vice president of landscape sup- ply operations after serving as director of parks and recreation for the city of Fort Myers. He went on to become director of landscape operations with WCI Commu- nities. A member of the Florida chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture and Florida Nursery, Growers and Land- scape Association, Olinger has earned three state of Florida landscape awards.

Carlene Thissen, an instructor with the Frances Pew Hayes Center for Lifelong Learning (CLL) at Hodges University, in Naples, was one of 10 Women of Achievement honorees recognized by the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Greater Naples Branch. Thissen is the CLL guide on educational trips to Immokalee. She holds a master’s degree in Latin American history from Florida International University, is a folk singer who has written many songs about Immokalee, and has written two books about the community. CLL Director Christine M. Wheeler
says, “Carlene is such an incredible ad- vocate for the community, the people, culture, beauty and wonderful treasures of Immokalee.” Other AAUW honorees were Joetta
Abbazio, Rosalee Bogo, Judy Hushon, Harriett Lancaster, Mollie Ottina, Mary Polizzotto, Rosemary Sehult, Sheryl Soukup and Linda White. The AAUW, which advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education and research, recognized the women as role models who reinforce its mission.
