BlackWing Farms Conducting
Animal Behavior Study
S
eventy percent of American households have at least one
pet, and sadly, the biggest reason for euthanasia is poor
animal behavior. Flower essences can help improve pet at-
titudes, temperament and capacity for learning, as well as
erase negative memories of any abuse, stress, or mishandling.
To help save and enhance the lives of pets, BlackWing
Farms Remedies is conducting a nationwide research study
to determine the
efficacy and expedi-
ency of permanent
behavioral improve-
ment in animals
using its products.
Trainers, shelters and
sanctuaries are being
invited to participate. Flower essences used in the study were
created and manufactured in San Diego County.
Results of the study, to be released in October, will
also determine if these products help adopted pets adjust
to new surroundings more quickly, reducing recidivism and
relinquishment. According to BlackWing Farms, permanent
improvement in behavior usually occurs within one week
among pets that have received this treatment.

Non-Anesthetic Teeth
Cleaning for Pets
S
unnybrook Farm in Encinitas will
offer non-anesthetic dental cleanings
performed by a skilled, trained profes-
sional from Houndstooth Pet Dental,
from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., April 17. The non-anesthetic pro-
cedure is a safe and healthy alternative to anesthetic dental
care, especially for dogs and cats that are elderly or have
other health issues.
Treatment costs are usually $80 to $135, based upon the
level of periodontal disease. Pet owners are allowed to stay
in the room with their pet throughout the procedure and are
welcome to inspect all equipment.
Rebekah Peterman, owner of Sunnybrook Farm, says,
“I have chosen to work with Houndstooth because of the
outstanding service they offer and the empowerment that
owners feel when they learn how to easily manage their pet’s
dental care at home.”
