Food Addicts Info Session in Naples

ood Addicts in Recovery Anonymous (FA) is
hosting a free public information session from
10:30 a.m. to noon, March 20, at the Commu-
nity Congregational Church in Naples. Designed
for those who have trouble controlling the way
they eat or are concerned about someone who
does, the session is also open to members of the
clergy, guidance and mental health counselors
and healthcare professionals.
FA is a recovery program based on the 12-step program of Alcoholics
Anonymous. It addresses all addictive eating problems that result in ill health
from underweight or overweight. There are no dues, fees or weigh-ins.
Gloria Eggert, co-chair of FA, describes how the program has benefitted
past participants: “For many, diabetes, blood pressure and cholesterol medica-
tions are no longer a part of their daily lives. For others who were fortunate
enough to find the program earlier in life, it has helped them avoid health
problems that they continue to witness in other members of their families.
For nearly everyone, healthier and happier lives are the outcome. Our bodies
strive naturally for homeostasis, and they can return to health when a normal
body weight is achieved and maintained.”
