INDULGENCES outrageous by daisy torres
“Here we are born to be kings and the princess of the
universe.” At the beginning of every new year I like to
embrace a new positive attitude and 2010 is no excep-
tion. A new year is filled with potential for new and
exciting adventures for Ruby and me, so we are looking
forward to a fun-filled January. We’re going to take the
bull by the horns and get out and about. In my family
we have a saying about new year’s eve, “You start the
new year the way you want the new year to be,” and I
started the new year in San Francisco enjoying a new
city and new experiences. It would be nice if 2010 is a
year filled with new adventures and traveling.
As much as I enjoy a place like San Francisco (because
it gives a chance to dress up like a winter princess), no
city can beat our weather here in San Diego. So as soon
as I get back I will have to put my coats and scarfs aside
and jump into my busy schedule. One of the events
I’m most excited about is Tony and Grammy Award-
winner Duncan Sheik, who will appear at the Old Globe
Theater through February 21. He is one sexy guy and
he will be premiering his new musical, titled Whisper
House. Call 619.234.5623 for tickets and more.
I love the performing arts, so another big event I’m
looking forward to is Momix, a company of dancer-
illusionists who have been celebrated for 20 years for
their ability to conjure up a world of surreal images
using props, light, shadow and the human body. Visit
ljms.org for tickets and information.
Aside from the performing arts, the biggest event
to hit San Diego this month is Restaurant Week. I’m
very excited about this event, and not just because
I’m a girl who loves her food. When Restaurant Week
returns to San Diego this year, diners will be invited to
treat themselves to a gourmet meal at a fraction of the
price. More than 200 restaurants all over San Diego will
be offering three course meals for $20, $30, or $40 per
person depending on the restaurant. Visit sandiegore-
staurantweek.com for more information.
I will be dining at Inn at the Park, one of the partici-
pating restaurants—and one of my favorite places to
dine because I love their butternut squash soup.
Working for this magazine means that I always have
Daisy anD Ruby’s
to be thinking one month ahead, so as you read this, I
will be immersed in trying to figure out what fun things
ADVENTURES
to present for February and planning my birthday
celebrations. Yes, this princess is a Pisces. So in the
meantime, go out and enjoy some great adventures.
Xoxo
