Guy B has been in the independent music scene
since 2006. His musical style combines soul spun up
with an R&B flavor and energetic dance beats. His im-
pressive voice captures an essence of Stevie Wonder
and Justin Timberlake yet is distinctly his own. Over
the course of his career so far, he has released two
albums. The most recent is called Co- and is a diverse
collection of remixes from his debut called Within Me
along with three new songs. The current single titled
“Co-Exist” hit the top 20 best songs of 2009 on MTV’s

Guy’s latest CD and his business savvy in a recent
conversation over the phone.
For those who haven’t heard his latest release titled
Co-, Guy fills in the blanks, “Co- is basically a dance
version of Within Me. It does have three original
songs but some incredible producers have remixed
the rest to create a completely original sound. It has a
more upbeat electro-pop dance feel to the record.”
Guy B’s voice has all the capabilities to tackle a true-
to-heart soul or R&B slow groove album like Luther
Vandross or Marvin Gaye. “I love that you’re saying
that because that’s my roots of what really has made
me passionate about music, those voices and that era
and genre of R&B music. I never listened to dance mu-
sic growing up, what I listened to is what you referred
to. Pebo Bryson’s voice would drive me insane. The
dance stuff is something I got into later on. I loved it in
the clubs but I really wanted to turn those R&B songs
into dance songs, which is why Co- was created. I’m
conceptualizing the next record and what that is
going to sound like and be like. I think vocally and lyri-
cally and the approach melodically, I can’t ever really
escape [R&B] because that is where my foundation
lies. R&B is always going to be there, man.”
Guy B created his company Media Temple a couple
of years ago after several years of struggling to be-
