Joseph Henry Lyon was born in Ancoats, Lancashire on 6 November 1889. A Railway Wagon Checker with the G.N.R. at Deansgate,
he enlisted into the Army at Manchester. Serving with the 1st Battalion Rifle Brigade, he was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 18
October 1916. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. He was the son of Mrs Mary Allen
Lyon, of 46 Ravald Street, Oldham Road, Manchester.

George Henry Lyon lived and enlisted at Scarborough, North Yorkshire. Serving with the 244th Motor Transport Company, Army
Service Corps, he died at sea on 22 January 1917, aged 37 years. He was buried in the Mazargues War Cemetery, Marseilles. He was
the husband of Mary A. E. Lyon of 4 Durham Street, Scarborough.

Alfred Crowther Lyon joined the Royal Engineers on 19 January 1915 and was
sent to Gallipoli on 28 July 1915. Then posted to Egypt, he took part in several
engagements including the battle of Gaza. He was wounded in action on 30
November 1917, suffering a gunshot wound to the forearm. He embarked for the
U.K. on 1 October 1918 and was demobilised in February 1919.

Ralph Cuthbert Grant Lyon was the son of Brigadier-General Ralph Edward Lyon, C.B., V.D., R.A. He was educated at Malvern
College, 1904-09 and at Magdalene College, Cambridge. Lyon was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the 2nd South Midland Brigade,
R.F.A.-T.F. on 10 November 1910 (Brigade commanded by his father) and promoted to Lieutenant on 1 November 1912. He was
mobilised with his brigade in August 1914 and went to France in March 1915 as A.D.C. to the G.O.C., South Midland Division, T.F.
Invalided to the U.K. in July 1915, he was promoted Captain during 1917-18 and was posted to G.H.Q. Ireland in 1919.
