George Findlater Lyon was born on 5 July 1879 at Forglen, near Banff. A Gardener by occupation, he attested for the Gordon
Highlanders at Aberdeen on 3 March 1899. As a Private in the 1st Battalion, he served in South Africa, 16 December 1899-27 August
1900. He was discharged at Aberdeen on 12 June 1901, having been found medically unfit for further service. Having then emigrated
to Canada and being employed as a Farmer, he attested at Winnipeg on 30 August 1916, for service in the 107th Pioneer Battalion,
Canadian Engineers, giving his home address as Birnie in Manitoba. Sailing on the S.S. Olympic, he arrived in England in September
1916 and entered France in March 1917. Contracting Dysentery in August 1918, he was invalided back to England in October and was
only discharged from hospital in January 1919. Returning to Canada aboard the S.S. Tunisian, he was demobilised on 17 July 1919.

Charles William Lyon was born at 11 Joiners Row, Boston, Lincolnshire, on 17 September 1890. A labourer by occupation and having
previously been unsuccessful in joining the Army, he successfully attested for service in the Army Special Reserve at Kings Lynn, on 28
May 1908. As a Gunner with the Royal Field Artillery he served in France/Flanders, 16 August 1914-22 August 1918 and 7 September
1918-17 May 1919. Transferred to the Army Reserve in June 1919, he was discharged on 2 October 1920. With copied service papers,
m.i.c. and associated birth, marriage and death certificates. Clasp confirmed.

Lance-Corporal William Lyon, Royal Highlanders (Black Watch), entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 13 August 1914. He
was not entitled to a clasp for his 1914 Star. Serjeant Lyon was severely wounded in February 1915 and was as a result discharged on
18 August 1915. He was awarded the Silver War Badge (not with lot). With copied m.i.c.

John Hardman Lyon was born in the Parish of Upton, near Chester. A Clerk by occupation, he attested for service in the Manchester
Regiment at Chester on 19 July 1899, aged 18 years, 3 months. With the 1st Battalion he served in South Africa, 9 November 1901-10
March 1903; Singapore, 11 March 1903-19 December 1904, and India, 20 December 1904-30 April 1907. For his service in the Boer
War he was awarded the Queen’s medal with clasps for Transvaal, South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902. Lyon was transferred to the
Army Reserve on 18 July 1907. Recalled for service in the Great War, he served with the 2nd Battalion Manchester Regiment in
France/Flanders, 27 October-27 November 1914, being returned to England due to bronchitis. After service at Home with the 3rd
Battalion, he was posted to Egypt with the 11th Battalion on 25 November 1915, serving there until July 1916. After further service in
France, July-October 1916, he was posted home and was discharged on 20 January 1919. With copied details taken from service
papers, together with a family tree and related copied death certificates.
