With all the new contracts, new classes, and new teams this year the
Winter National Olympics was definitely exciting. The Mini Olympics
is held every year in Gatorback, Florida at the end of November
during Thanksgiving week. It’s been a tradition for many years that
motocrossers share their thanksgiving with their extended motocross
family. If it is at the Thor dinner, in the confines of their motor homes,
or out at cracker barrel they all share this day with each other.
Mini O’s is unique because of its split format. For the first 3 days
of the week they run Supercross and then the last 3 days they run
motocross. A lot of riders, especially the pros, like this setup because
this is the only national that runs supercross. So this way they get
to experience some supercross before they go under the lights at
Anahiem or Atlanta. The supercross track this year was changed up a
little. They added another whoop section in the middle and a rhythm
section in the back with two triples. It made the track very technical
and it seemed to take down a lot of riders because everytime I turned
around there was a medic flag out. However, Everyone ended up
getting out of their without any severe injuries.
The weather forecast predicted for thanksgiving week this year was
sunny n clear skies all week with a slight chance of rain on Tuesday.
This time the weather men were actually correct and we had sunny
