types of bitches he produced great offspring. I am sure very few left remember “Chip”
Wempedon Miss Willy, but she was not the most attractive female, but the mating of
these two dogs in my estimation has definitely left the most impact on our breed.
I might be off in numbers but I believe Heelerhill dogs going back to Jaspar have re‐
ceived the most award of Merits( I know of 8 for Heelerhill alone), the most BISS, and
the most BIS(14+)
Not only are they wonderful show dogs but have excelled in all facets of the competition
world, Herding, Obedience, Rally, Agility, Tracking, Therapy dogs, the list goes on many
of his offspring being multi titled in several areas.
Jaspars impact on the ACD will always be in the back of those pedigrees.
What bitch has made the biggest impact on your breeding program to date?
CH Lamajos Magic Megan
Although she did not carry my kennel name, Maxine Johnston (LAMAJO) and I bred
Megan. She was a great‐great granddaughter of Jaspar’s and was a very masculine look‐
ing bitch with plenty of bone, and correct movement. Megan had many best of breeds
and as a bitch at that time was almost unheard of. During her show career she was rated
nationally in the top 10 with limited showing.
Megan’s littermates have also been outstanding producers influencing several kennels
breeding programs of today.
Probably not the prettiest head, the rest of her structure was wonderful and her gift was
to pass that along to her puppies. Again, With limited breeding she produced several off‐
spring that excelled in not only conformation, (BIS & BISS) but in Herding and Obedi‐
ence. Back then Rally and Agility were not recog‐
nized. Most of her offspring were sold to ranchers
in Central Oregon to work livestock.
Her impact was in my breeding program to keep
and solidify the type of ACD that I like‐ incredi‐
ble heads, bone, body, movement and tempera‐
ment.
Front structure was something that I struggled
with. Straight shoulders and short forearms the
front looked like they were falling off the front of
the dogs. Megan’s influence thru generations helped correct this problem.
