You can lay your own tracks or have a friend do it. It is most fun when
you track with a friend and you can lay tracks for each other. I do this
once or twice a week. Other times I am on my own and lay my own
tracks. I keep a bag with all my tracking gear in the car and that way
we can grab a quick tracking session whenever we come across a
suitable spot.

lawns or open grassy green places. Never ask your dog to track on
freshly mown areas, though. It is sensory overload.

I myself, trained from the start on grass and dirt and then started

If it is your intent to compete in AKC Tracking to obtain a TD title you
need to read the AKC rules and know what is required.
A dog only needs to pass one TD test to obtain his title.

Dogs need to be “certified” by an AKC Tracking Judge prior to entering
a test. The dog has to do a course similar to a typical TD track and
prove to the judge that he is capable enough to perform a track. TD
