Cosmos drops summer prices
A NEW “Pricebeaters” brochure from Cosmos Holidays has been released after the operator renegotiated rates with hoteliers. The programme, which focuses on the eastern Med, features 12 short-haul desti- nations such as the Greek islands of Crete, Corfu, Rhodes, Kefalonia and Kos, as well as the Turkish resorts of Bodrum and Dalaman. Longer-haul options such as Sharm El Sheikh and Luxor in Egypt, Mexico and Kenya also feature. Cosmos is offering accommodation which is “allocated on arrival” as well as named properties. Seven nights self-catering to Corfu or Turkey starts at £149 including flights. Long-haul prices start from £239 for Luxor,
£345 for Sharm El Sheikh, £449 for Kenya and £599 for Mexico.

TANZANIA ODYSSEY has launched a web-based brand to showcase its holidays across southern and eastern Africa. The new brand,
africaodyssey.com, offers
holidays to Tanzania, Botswana, Zambia, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Kenya and Mozambique as well as extensions to the Indian Ocean islands of Mauritius and Seychelles. Tanzania Odyssey, which is run by African
Travel and Tourism Association director Marc Harris, has been operating for 15 years and has built up its portfolio across the continent in the past few years. Director Julian Carter-Manning said: “Our main destinations are Tanzania and Botswana, but this website shows the wide range of lodges and destinations we now offer. “We have years of experience and we want the website to reflect that – it also gives us the
chance to use videos online which will be a key selling tool.” Africa Odyssey works with the trade and pays agents 10-15% commission. “The rate depends on which lodges they book but in areas where we do a lot of business, such as Tanzania, it will always be more than 10%,” said Carter-Manning. “But if they are booking something like the Garden Route in South Africa then it will be at the lower end of the scale.” He added there were no plans to print an
Africa Odyssey brochure, but there may be a coffee-table style book in the future. The London-based operator, which holds an
Atol, has already soft-launched the website, with a full launch planned in the next few weeks. A nine-night Tanzania safari and beach holiday
costs from £3,390 per person with flights, full- board accommodation and game drives.
