Insight combines land and sea tours


COMBINATIONS OF cruise and land-based tours are being simplified thanks to a new planner from Insight Vacations.


The tour and cruise planner is a two-sided handout which shows when the operator’s tours begin and end so they can be linked with clients’ cruises.


It also gives details for ports such as Civitavec-


chia (Rome), Barcelona, Istanbul and Athens as well as river cruising hubs such as Berlin, Vienna, Passau and Budapest. Director of sales Paul Melinis said: “Agents could suggest that customers take advantage of already being in a destination by extending their holiday and arranging to take a tour either before or after their cruise.”

Croatia kickstarts ‘Essentially’ brand


Rob Gill. PRESTIGE HOLIDAYS has launched a programme to Croatia which will be the first in a new brand for the upmarket operator. The Croatia brochure for summer 2011 is the


first “Essentially Prestige” product which offers three and four-star properties alongside its traditional five-star hotels. Managing director John Dixon said: “I have wanted to do this for some time. Essen- tially Prestige is a reaction to the economy and the marketplace – we want to widen our scope and show we are not just about five- star hotels.” Dixon said he had sur-

veyed 250 independent agents to find out which destinations to focus on. “There were many options but Croatia came top or sec- ond on the list for most agents,” Dixon added.


“Croatia is beautiful, unspoilt and much closer than people think – as it’s just over two hours from the UK and has 11 departure airports from the UK. Our aim is to become the UK’s leading specialist to Croatia.” Currently Prestige specialises in luxury


holidays to destinations such as the Canaries, Madeira, Bermuda and Canada. The 64-page brochure has been put together with the help of Croatia expert Julia Berg, who has been visiting the destination for nearly 20 years. Prestige is offering a range of holidays across the Balkan country and the new brochure features 23 resorts, nine islands and 71 hotels including unusual options such as staying in lighthouses. “We have most of the country covered includ- ing the capital Zagreb and also activities such as coastal cruising,” Dixon added. “We plan to introduce other destinations under our new Essentially Prestige brand – but not this year as we want to concentrate on Croatia.” The new brochure has been distributed to 3,500 agents.
