Must-see
Everyone has heard of the Pyramids of Giza
and Sphinx near Cairo, but many clients
miss out by flying directly to Luxor.
That’s a mistake, as you can’t really appre-
ciate Egypt without visiting Cairo. You can
see not only the Egyptian Museum but also
the grand bazaar, Coptic Cairo (Christian
heartland of the city) and the twisting alley-
ways and mosques of the medieval quarter.
In Luxor, hundreds of miles south along
the Nile, you need to tour the west and east
banks. On the west side are the Temple of
Hatshepsut and Valley of the Kings, while on
the east bank are Karnak and Luxor temples.
Many cultural visitors extend their tour to
Aswan, by air or by cruising on the Nile. See
Aga Khan’s mausoleum and then visit Abu
Simbel for the Great Temple of Ramses.
