Agent training
Education,
C
ruise lines, both big and small, are
stepping up their game as they aim
to increase knowledge of their ships
and holidays among agents.
While most lines still use traditional
training methods such as ship visits and
roadshows, many are also using internet-
based technology to reach more agents
education,
around the country.
The majority of cruise companies now
offer web-based training courses for agents,
which are being supplemented by various
initiatives including live webinars, online
forums and blogs.
Here are the latest developments aimed at

IN-DEPTH ONLINE COURSES.
NCL’s online agent training programme,
NCLU, which launched in December 2008,
is part of the company’s strategy to create
stronger relationships with the trade. Agents
complete a series of modules covering
subjects such as NCL’s Freestyle concept,
ship profiles, accommodation options and
innovations, with multiple-choice tests at
the end of each module.
Further tools on the NCLU site include
downloadable reference guides, a video
library on family cruising, and interactive
games. Planned features include an agents’
forum, blog area and an “ask NCL” facility.
