Quintiles recently selected Suraj Prakash
Anand from North Carolina State
University and Juan Jia from the University
of California at Los Angeles as recipients
of its 2008 scholarship. Each will receive
$5,000. Quintiles offers the annual schol-
arship to students who demonstrate great
potential for leadership in the statistics/
biostatistics field.
Anand is a PhD student in statistics
who has a 3.98 GPA and has been work-
ing as a graduate industrial trainee in
clinical pharmacology and statistical sci-
ences at GlaxoSmithKline Research and
Development. He also holds a master’s degree
in statistics. Previously, Anand won the
Young Researcher Award at the International
Conference on Advances in Interdisciplinary
Statistics and Combinatorics.
